eBay Find of the Day: 1974 Trans Am Super-Duty

ta-1

Restored from the ground up, this Super Duty 1974 Trans Am has us drooling. This numbers matching car is going for quite a bit of dough, but if you’ve got it to spend, it’d be a great addition to the garage. With the cost of rare classics skyrocketing, the near $100k price tag isn’t really that ‘expensive’ if you can swing it! It would likely go for a lot more at a larger public auction, but that’s not really why it caught our eye.

This 1-of-943 1974 Trans Am Super-Duty looks like it traveled through time to get to 2016 in showroom condition. You can tell that it was professionally cared for in every aspect of the restoration. The bodywork is smooth with better-than-factory alignment. The interior rocks a few insignias, correct parchment bucket seats which are correctly framed in the blue carpet, blue shoulder harnesses, and color-keyed floor mats. A molded console houses a small shifter, a correct Delco AM/FM radio is in the factory location, and the factory air vents blow out from the factory air conditioning (you’re starting to get the point, we know).

Under the hood is a mostly hand-built SD-455 with reinforced components. Sitting on top of the large engine is a Rochester carb and correct Pontiac intake. Backing the engine is an original Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed that runs into a 10-bolt rear. Its even got the correct points distributor, restored exhaust manifolds, decals, Delco topped battery, and correct Delco brake booster.

This car is well-documented and comes with all of the factory literature. From the owner’s manuals, to the seatbelt warning visor tag, to the Pontiac history services paperwork, it all adds up. If you’re looking for a 1974 Trans Am Super Duty that’s in factory original condition, this is pretty much a dead-ringer. Check it out here and let us know if you’re bidding on it!
