This 1965 Mustang GT Might Be The Perfect Classic Daily Driver

The idea of using a first generation Mustang as a daily driver might be a little blasphemous for some, but hear us out. What if the 1965 Mustang GT had a few issues that keep it from having a very high collector’s value? What if it was priced way lower than any new car (Kias included) you can buy today? Would using a classic Mustang GT as a daily be so bad?

As far as we’re concerned, this Pony Car would make a great daily driver. It’s a restored car, not that unusual, but it had a banded title. We all know what having a banded title does to the value of a car, and how it can scare off prospective buyers. Due to that, it not exactly a car you’d want to buy and store as a part of your collection, but that doesn’t make it good for nothing, does it?

So back to this theory of buying classic cars with salvage titles as dailies, it makes sense. This particular car has long since sold on eBay, although we have no idea what the sell price was. The starting bid was $12,000 and had no reserve, someone may have walked away with a deal of a lifetime. For our purposes, it still serves as a great example.

It’s got a much better cool factor than anything else you’re going to find on the market — certainly much cooler than any sub-$30k car sitting at the dealership. While it’s not in high end show car condition, it looks great, has a rebuilt engine, and 5-speed transmission. Unlike most daily drivers, it’s going to be emissions exempt and much cheaper to register/re-register every year. Combine that with the fact that you don’t have to feel guilty about racking up the miles and de-valuing the car, and this actually makes a lot of sense.

For us, the sale price would have to factor in to call it for sure, but in theory, if it sold for under $15k, we’d say snatch it up and leave your Camry at home from now on.
