VIDEO: Jay Leno Takes Chris Evans’ Camaro For a Spin

One of the great perks to being rich and famous, is getting the ability to having any car you want. Such is the case with Chris Evans and this SpeedKore built ’67 Camaro. Presented to him as a gift from Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., Evans’ Camaro was largely designed by RDJ.

Downey picked the trim, the colors and various luxury and convenience items found throughout the car. Initially built for RDJ himself, the car was tweaked slightly and then presented to Evans as a gift on the set of one of the recent Marvel films. Since that time, Evans has racked up several thousand miles on the odometer cursing around his Massachusetts stomping grounds.

But it’s not all looks; as the engine bay now sports a Whipple supercharged, Chevrolet Performance LS3 powerplant that puts out nearly 600 hp to the rear tires. It also features Baer brakes, HRE wheels and a Detroit Speed suspension system. The gearbox is a push button automatic, and the entire interior features a blend of bomber jacket brown leather, with high-end electronics and machined aluminum trim.

There’s subtle changes to the bodywork, too, although the overall shape of the body is fairly standard Chevrolet. The hood has been modified, the front lower valance panel has been modified for a more modern look. The original sideview mirrors were replaced by those from a second-generation Camaro. The rear deck lid is still stock, but utilizes a unique carbon fiber spoiler

Taking an unusual approach to the paint and trim, a special blend of green and grey flanks the entire body. Every piece of chrome and stainless exterior trim was painted a light tan Cerakote.

The overall package looks, sounds and performs amazingly. It handles well and stops great thanks to its modern suspension, the performance is on par with a modern pony car. and the stance is on point. It’s the perfect blend of functionality and aesthetics that can be used in the real world.
