It’s been quite some time since YearOne was rolling out their custom Burt Reynolds Edition Trans Ams, but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about them either! Regardless, it’s time to show this car some love.

Back in 1977, the world fell in love with the Bandit Trans Am. When that beautiful work of art rolled off the Snowman’s rig, every movie goer’s heart skipped a beat. As a gear head who didn’t watch the movie until about 20 years later, it had the same effect on me, as it does my kids now. The movie and the car are truly timeless.

To commemorate America’s sweetheart Trans Am, Year One decided it was time to make some dreams come true. Burt Reynolds agreed to lend his name in support of a limited run of customized Burt Reynolds Edition Trans Am by YearOne.

These Trans Ams were built on levels of ‘seriousness.’ From mildest to wildest, there was the BAN1, BAN2, and BAN3. All levels look pretty much the same, with the exception of some subtle mods, and got 18” billet snowflake wheels, a special interior, in your face special decals ban-1and stripes, and even a CB radio (optional).

The real differences in the levels produced where unseen from the outside. The BAN1 one got tubular front upper control arms, big Baer brakes, stock leaf spring rear suspension, a 10-bolt rear with 3.42:1 rear gears, and a 450 horsepower Pontiac 455 backed by a Tremec 5-speed.

BAN2 gets a little beefier with a 4-point roll bar, an aftermarket subframe, coilover, bigger brakes, more gear, rear mini tubs, and the engine option choices of a Butler Performance 550hp Pontiac, or 550hp GM LS7. The BAN3 came with everything plus a 700hp Butler 496 Pontiac engine, a road race 4-link rear suspension, 6-piston calipers, 14-inch rotors, and a 6-point roller. Are you an owner of one of these special Trans Ams? Drop a comment, we’d like to hear from you!
